About
This kid-friendly course introduces homeschool learners to the Azteca horse breed as well as some traditions and history connected to Mexico. Students will learn how Azteca horses are bred, how their movement compares with Andalusian and Quarter Horses, and how they are used in Mexican horse culture. The course also explores Mexico on a map, Maya history and living Maya culture, cenotes, mariachi music, charro traditions, escaramuza, and Xochimilco’s colorful boats. Activities use simple observation, drawing, map work, and short writing prompts. When we teach this class live, ages 8-12 attend together. The materials are geared more towards age 11 but easy to modify for younger or older learners.
